When back pain from a spinal fracture becomes part of daily life, it can feel like surgery is the only way forward. But for many patients, there’s another option—minimally invasive procedures performed through interventional radiology.

At Vista Interventional Care Center, we offer advanced, image-guided treatments that target the source of pain with less disruption to the body. Two of the most effective procedures we provide are vertebroplasty and kyphoplasty, designed specifically to relieve pain from spinal compression fractures.

What Are Vertebroplasty and Kyphoplasty?

Both procedures are used to treat fractured vertebrae, most often caused by osteoporosis or trauma. Using real-time imaging, a small needle is guided into the damaged vertebra.

  • In vertebroplasty, medical cement is injected to stabilize the fracture.
  • In kyphoplasty, a tiny balloon is first used to restore height to the vertebra before the cement is placed.

These procedures are:

  • Performed through a small incision
  • Done with local anesthesia and light sedation
  • Completed in under an hour
  • Typically outpatient, with patients returning home the same day

Why Choose Interventional Radiology?

Unlike traditional surgery, interventional radiology focuses on targeted treatment with minimal trauma to surrounding tissue. With vertebroplasty and kyphoplasty, there are no large incisions, no hardware, and no lengthy hospital stays—just effective relief delivered with precision.

At Vista Interventional Care Center, our board-certified interventional radiologists bring expertise and personalized care to every procedure. We work closely with your referring provider to ensure you receive the right treatment, at the right time, close to home.
